MRS Fellowships 2009

MRS Fellowships are awarded in recognition of an exceptional contribution to market research. For 2009 there are seven new Fellows:

Aftab Ahmad: Chief Executive, Aftab Associates

During his career, Aftab has contributed towards the awareness and growth of the market research profession in Pakistan via his input to training, lecturing and launching new market research products.  He was the founder President of the Marketing Research Association of Pakistan and started the Lahore Chapter of the Marketing Association of Pakistan.

Dominic Buck, Joint MD, Product Perceptions

Dominic is an authority in the area of statistics, in relation to consumer and sensory data.  He has committed a great deal of time and energy in the promotion of best practice in research across client-side and agency. He is a prolific author, conference presenter, training convenor, tutor, examiner, and committee member for MRS and other organisations.

Clive Humby: Chairman, dunnhumby Associates

Clive is recognised for his ground breaking work on understanding customer behaviour, integrating research findings with complementary sources of data eg census statistics and customer databases, and placing this insight at the heart of business decision-making. He is a much sought after conference speaker, and a Visiting Professor at UK and US universities.

Fiona Jack: MD, Green Light Research

A qualitative researcher, Fiona has had a long-term involvement with AQR, as committee member, Chairman, trainer, conference presenter and author. She has been a trail blazer in setting new standards in qualitative recruitment. Fiona’s personal commitment, passion and dynamism are a credit to the whole sector, and she is a great ambassador for the research profession.

Martin Oxley: MD, Buzzback Europe

A prolific writer and presenter, Martin has been instrumental in evangelising the introduction of internet-based research in the UK and Europe. He was an advocate when people thought it was madness and a critic when the adoption was blind. He brings to the profession a slightly heretical view and tons of enthusiasm.

Penny Mesure: Director, Observant LLC

Penny has been a researcher of the highest integrity and professionalism, who has trained and inspired several generations of young practitioners.  She has contributed in many roles for MRS, most recently participating in the development and introduction of the Professional Development Scheme for graduates and serving on the Conference Awards Panel.

Prof Alan Wilson: Vice Dean, University of Strathclyde

MRS Silver Medal winner Alan has been a prolific writer and presenter during his career.  He has been an active Council Member for the last seven years, in particular as an examiner, and committee and task force member. While Chairman of the Professional Development Advisory Board, he was responsible for reshaping its focus making it more strategic and effective.
