MRS will host a Research Law and Practice conference, which will explore current legal developments which impact on the business and practice of research.
The morning sessions of the conference are designed for chief executive officers and leaders of research businesses. They will look at high level issues relating to data protection, research with children and young people, and the regulation of unsolicited telephone marketing. Afternoon sessions will focus on technical elements that are required knowledge for operational staff.
Sessions will cover:
Data Protection – present and future, which will cover both the current challenges of data protection, the development of a new data protection regulation and what the research sector is doing to present its case.
Kids - legal and ethical business practice, which will look at the Bailey Review on the Commercialisation and Sexualisation of Childhood, the marketing and communication sectors’ response one year on and what this means for researching children.
Unsolicited Telephone Marketing and Nuisance Calls, proposals for the reform of the Telephone Preference Service and the opportunity this presents for research to address some long-standing problems such as selling under the guise of research.
Legal Developments over the last 12 months particularly in regard to employment (pensions, CRB checks, redundancy, health & safety) and business management.
