Overview: Have respondents gone ahead of us in answering surveys? In this session for anyone who collects data via self-administered web surveys, panel vendors and web survey platforms, Google’s Mario Callegaro will talk you through the importance of optimising surveys to be answered the way your respondents want to answer them and look at what might happen if you don’t.

Speaker: Mario Callegaro is survey research scientist at Google, London. He focuses on measuring customer satisfaction and consults on numerous survey projects in terms of survey design, questionnaire design, sampling and reporting. Mario holds a M.S. and a Ph.D. in Survey Research and Methodology from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Prior to joining Google, Mario was working as survey research scientist for Gfk-Knowledge Networks. He is associate editor of Survey Research Methods and in the editorial board of the International Journal of Market Research. Current research areas: web survey design, smart-phone surveys, telephone / cell phone surveys, and questionnaire design in which he has published numerous papers, book chapters and conference presentations. At the moment Mario is working on two books, one on web survey methodology and the second (edited) on the quality of online panel research.
