Pharmaceutical Company Case Study - Reward Strategy Survey
Project Drivers and Overview
The UK operation of a leading global pharmaceutical company commissioned
a firm of survey consultants to conduct a survey designed to obtain
the views of employees about all aspects of its employment offering.
It was considering moving to a system of flexible benefits.
Project Scope
The issues covered in the survey included traditional benefits, voluntary
benefits and the desire for greater flexibility in benefits provision.
It also covered internal communication, the company's flexible working
policies and the support provided to help employees achieve a better
home/life balance.
Methodology and Coverage
The involvement of the survey consultants included the design of survey
questions, administration of the survey and report design. The major
focus was on ensuring that each question delivered usable data to ensure
that the reward strategy meets the needs of the company and its people.
The survey was issued to all UK employees including the mobile sales
team. It was designed for a diverse workforce including research staff
and manufacturing staff.
Project Evaluation and Benefits
The data is helping the benefits team identify the return on investment
in terms of employee appreciation and perceived value of the existing
employment offering. It is particularly helping the company to prioritise
changes in its reward system, for example how it can introduce more
flexibility into its offering so as to increase the perceived value
to employees but without increasing its cost.
