The Ethnic Research Network (ERN) operated from 2002 to 2005, with a set agenda to raise the profile of ethnic research by promoting the benefits of researching minority communities, encouraging diversity in the research industry and facilitating best practice. A primary aim was to gather and disseminate information on how best to operate in this growing area of research and offer practical support such as questions that clients should be asking agencies when commissioning research. It operated as a core group, with information being made available to a wider audience via email and the website. During its time of operation, ERN produced a guidance note on conducting ethnic research and organised regular meetings to discuss case studies (good and bad) and the lessons to be gleaned. Summaries are given in the Resources section, which also includes frequently asked questions and guidance on how to find an appropriate supplier. MRS has also produced a LitSearch resource sheet on Ethnic minority research which is available to individual MRS members and employees of MRS Company Partners to download. This resource sheet provides an 'instant' literature search, plus other resources, on ethnic minority research. Log into the MRS Members' Area or the MRS Company Partner Area to download the sheet. Although the network is not currently an active group, information and events of interest to the minorities research community is published from time to time on its Events and Resources pages and you may also register to join the emailing group to receive information direct. |
