Refining Skills in Qualitative Research
Stimulate your thinking and expand your techniques

Objective

This course enables you to

  • extend your repertoire of qualitative methodologies and techniques, and build your confidence and skills to meet new and varied research challenges.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, delegates should be able to

  • design and implement a wide range of qualitative solutions to client research problems, choosing the most effective combination of methodologies from the familiar and the less familiar
  • confidently take responsibility for a project from proposal to presentation
  • use new projective techniques, develop their own stimulus material, and invent enabling techniques
  • build strong working partnerships with clients

Who will benefit?

This course will benefit researchers with 1-2 years’ experience of qualitative research. It is particularly relevant to those who are beginning to take more responsibility for projects, including project design, contact with clients and management of the research process. It is recommended that delegates should have a working knowledge of qualitative techniques and when to use them.

Helen Clark

Helen graduated in 1988 from Leeds University with a degree in Zoology.  After graduating she then spent the next three and a half years in marketing at GUS Home Shopping, firstly in sales promotion and then marketing. 

In 1992 she discovered market research and has spent the last 15 years building her experience.  She has both agency (B&MR, Wirthlin, Harris & Virtual Surveys) and client side experience (CWS) as well as extensive market research experience in both qualitative and quantitative research across a number of sectors including retail, travel, healthcare and finance.  She is also a MRS accredited trainer and examiner.  She joined Waves in 2007.
