Guidelines for Authors

Thank you for your interest in submitting a paper to IJMR. The notes that may be downloaded below are intended to provide advice for prospective authors on the types of papers we publish, and to help authors increase their chances of being accepted for publication.

Please submit your manuscript online at www.editorialmanager.com/i-j-m-r in MS Word. If you have any questions or difficulties, please contact the Production Editor at ijmrreviews@warc.com.

All papers are assessed by the Editor and 'double-blind' reviewed by two referees. There are three types of paper: full academic articles, and shorter Forum and Viewpoint pieces. To assess which category your paper belongs please see the detailed Guidelines for Authors.

Open Access (OA)

The IJMR is a subscription-only journal but does operate a hybrid gold open access option, to enable those authors with specific OA funding mandates to submit to the journal. Authors will be required to pay a one-off article processing charge (APC) covering the costs of the peer review, copy editing and proofreading process. Once the APC has been paid, authors can post the final, published version of their article on a website, institutional repository or other free public server, without embargo. The APC charge for the IJMR is US$1950/GB£1200.

Articles are eligible for the OA option only after the article has been accepted for publication. We would request that any authors requiring the OA option alert the journal’s Editor as soon as possible after acceptance has been confirmed. Publishing in the IJMR

By signing the Copyright Transfer Statement authors still retain the following rights.

Preprint

Before submission to the journal authors can share their preprint anywhere at any time.

However, we ask that once submitted to IJMR, articles are not under consideration by any other journal or publication.

After acceptance

Authors may self-archive the accepted manuscript of their article on their personal website(s) or blogs, or their departmental website(s) immediately after publication.

Authors may also share their accepted papers privately with students or colleagues for their personal use.

They may also privately share the accepted manuscript via their research institute or institutional repository for internal institutional use.

A credit line should be added to indicate the article is to be published in the International Journal of Market Research and this website - mrs.org.uk/ijmr. Once an article has been published online ahead of print, a link to the article and the DOI should be added to the accepted paper.

After Publication

The final pdf version of Gold open access articles can be shared anywhere at any time.

These articles are also open access on the journal’s website.

The link to a subscription article can be shared anywhere at any time. The article itself may also be shared privately with students or colleagues for their personal use.

After an 18 month embargo period following publication, authors may also share their accepted manuscript via non-commercial hosting platforms such as their institutional repository.

Authors are always required to cite the article’s Digital Object Identifier (DOI) if available,to acknowledge the journal and to link to the publisher’s version with the following wording:

“The definitive version of this paper is available at www.mrs.org.uk/ijmr.” Authors may only deposit the article on a non-profit server.

Prior versions of the article published on non-commercial pre-print servers and can remain on these servers and/or can be updated with the author’s accepted manuscript.
