Happy new year to you all. I hope you have returned from the Christmas break refreshed and ready to work hard and win plaudits in 2016. It’s going to be a busy one for us as we celebrate our 70th anniversary.

The research sector thrives on interaction and I’m always pleased when we can forge beneficial relationships for our members with other bodies. This year MRS will be supporting two awards presented by The Marketing Society, so please do consider entering.

The Customer Insight category of their Excellence Awards rewards the best use of research providing information on consumer behaviour that has resulted in measurable improvements in brand performance. Entries should be submitted by 5 February.

The Marketing Planning – Resources, Research and Insights category of The Marketing Society of Scotland’s Star Awards is for agencies based in Scotland, but can be for campaigns which have taken place in any part of the world. Entries close on 19 February.

As a longtime member of The Marketing Society myself, I know how important it is for research providers to have their work recognised in front of buyers, and I’d love our members to be the ones lifting these trophies.

You’ll have to wait until May to enter our own MRS Awards. The timetable for this year has just been announced.
