MRS/BIG Award

Business-to-Business Research

This Award is designed to recognise outstanding research specifically in the business-to-business arena. The judges will be looking for full papers, not synopses, and these should clearly demonstrate both the innovative nature of the work and the demonstrable outcomes.

Papers describing both stand-alone B2B and B2B within B2C projects are equally eligible, but the latter will be judged on the B2B element alone.

The paper which best demonstrates research quality and vision (methodological or interpretative) and its effectiveness or application in the business-to business sector will win the award.

Papers presented at Impact 2017, BIG Forum or published in the International Journal of Market Research are automatically considered for the Award. Authors of these papers do not need to make a separate submission.

Papers may also be submitted specifically for this award. New and unpublished work will be considered.

Note: this Award is judged separately and all applications will be forwarded to BIG who will contact shortlisted candidates directly.

How to apply

A valid entry will comprise one copy of the written paper and one copy of the entry form

Entries should be sent to researchawards@mrs.org.uk by 10am on Monday 10 July 2017.

Submission format

Basis of submission: A written paper of any length plus 200 word summary.

Your summary is an important part of your application and should clearly demonstrate how your entry matches what the judges are looking for. You should highlight:

  • the innovative nature of the work
  • the demonstrable outcomes
  • why you believe your entry should win this award

Only electronic applications in the required format will be considered for this award.

  • Your paper must be presented as one complete document in MS Word
  • The document must include a title page which states the title of the paper and the name of the author as they should be published. This should also be stated on your entry form.
  • Charts/illustrations should be included within the body of the paper – appendices should be kept to a minimum.
  • Your submission will be judged on the merits of the summary/paper alone – no additional material will be considered.
  • The submission document and entry form should be sent as attachments to the same email with the subject line Business-to-Business Research Award Entry.

Rules of entry – Business-to-Business Research Award

  • Entries are welcomed from individuals, teams or client/agency partnerships, but you must nominate a primary contact on your Entry Form who will take overall responsibility for the entry.
  • The primary contact must ensure that permission to enter the Awards is obtained from all parties involved including any clients or suppliers.
  • Entries must not overtly ‘sell’ any organisation. Company logos are acceptable.
  • Submissions may be entered for more than one Award but must be tailored to meet the requirements for each specific category.
  • MRS reserves the right to re-assign an entry to another category if it is deemed more appropriate.
  • The judges’ decisions are final. The judges will not enter into correspondence about why an entry is not selected as a finalist.
  • Entries must be received by 10am on Monday 10 July 2017 to qualify. 

There is no entry fee for this award.

One ticket to the Awards Dinner on 4 December will be allocated per shortlisted entry. Additional tickets can be purchased nearer the time at the standard advertised price.
