MRS Fellowships


Fellowships are awarded in recognition of the exceptional contribution which the recipients have made to market research.

Jennie Beck

JENNIE BECK
Jennie is a leading media researcher who has worked both client and supply-side. As Chairman of the MRS Professional Standards Committee, she championed advancement of the whole standards arena and oversaw the expansion of guidance to support the MRS Code of Conduct. She was MRS Chairman from 2003-05.

 

Joanna Chrzanowska

JOANNA CHRZANOWSKA
A qualitative researcher and founding member of AQRP (now AQR), Joanna has made a significant contribution to research training, including writing a book on interviewing skills. She has also taken qualitative research into a new sphere of influence, extending the application of commercial methods into roles within the NHS.

 

Sue Duncan

SUE DUNCAN
Currently, Head of the Government Social Research Service, Sue has been a laudable ambassador for social and marketing research. A regular speaker and writer, she is committed to promoting MRS and its Code of Conduct, and to strengthening the professional identity and standing of research in government. She has been described as “the most creative civil servant…for a century”.

 

Claire Harris

CLAIRE HARRIS
Claire has been involved in many field and industry activities throughout her career. She was an IQCS Council Member for eight years, including four as Chairman. During her tenure, she had a key responsibility for the development of fieldwork standards and the inspection process which resulted in the enhancement of IQCS’s reputation.

 

Robert Heath

ROBERT HEATH
Following his early career in advertising and research, Robert moved to academia. His academic research focus has covered both evaluating and developing more effective advertising. He has been a prolific writer and speaker on the international circuit in support of his goal of improving the quality of research in this sector.

 

Linda Henshall

LINDA HENSHALL
During her career, Linda has been a tireless worker raising the status and visibility of fieldwork and interviewers. Serving on MRS Committees and Council for twenty years, she ran field conferences, championed the single industry identity card, and acted as a representative for MRS and research to local town councils. She is an active MRBA fundraiser.

 

Hugh Hoffman

HUGH HOFFMAN
Hugh established the first full service market research company in Scotland. His early work in promoting awareness of the value of research contributed to the subsequent substantial growth of the industry in Scotland. He was active in setting up the MRS Scottish Branch, becoming its first Chairman, and has remained closely involved since its creation.

 

Phyllis MacFarlane

PHYLLIS MACFARLANE
Phyllis is an industry leader who has played an effective role in promoting best practice and meticulous standards in research. She has become a guru in terms of sampling techniques, particularly in the b2b arena. Phyllis has been an active member of BIG, a regular speaker and writer, and a contributor to MRS training programmes.

 

Leslie Sopp

LESLIE SOPP
Leslie has been a keen ambassador for research, often found on the platform speaking at conferences, contributing to training courses and writing pieces for wider circulation. He has been involved with a number of industry bodies. His four-year Chairmanship of AURA led to significant representation of the client-side in industry-wide discussions and development.

 

Janet Weitz

JANET WEITZ
Janet has been at the forefront of market research in Britain for over twenty years, championing both research in the wider business world and the role of women within the industry. She has been actively involved in several industry bodies including MRS, BMRA and IQCS. She is a regular conference speaker and a prolific writer.
