MRS Calls for Contributions for Research 2006

Date: 4 July 2005

MRS has announced its call for contributions to its annual conference – Research 2006: Connections. This key event in the industry calendar will showcase the latest research methodologies alongside cutting edge thinking, inspirational case studies and controversial debates involving leading research experts and major players from the business world.

Held at the Barbican, London, from 22-24 March 2006, the conference will attract delegates from both the market research sector and the wider business world, providing them with a critical insight into where research is heading and how it can impact on the bottom-line.

Chair of Programme Team Kevin McLean explains: “Research 2006 will explore the ways in which research connects organisations, people and ideas. It will give delegates practical insights to benefit their business – whether they are directly involved in research or not – and will provide a crucial opportunity to strengthen links between the industry’s stakeholders.

“We are calling for papers, speakers and session ideas that will allow delegates to ‘connect’ with the very best the industry has to offer. Whether you are involved on the operational side within a market research agency, you commission research in a private sector company or you manage research and marketing for a public body, you will have ideas and thoughts to share – and we want to hear from you.”

The key themes for Research 2006 are:

  • Connecting to business: How research connects to business success by contributing to business models, measuring impact and through client-agency relationships
  • New connections: How new ideas and theories can add real value to market research, and how the industry needs to respond to changing trends and advances in communications technology
  • Connecting with people: Reaching ‘hard to reach’ audiences, connecting with consumers and the role of social and political research

Research 2006 will comprise a mix of dynamic formats to provide a fresh and varied programme, whilst maintaining the popular networking and social opportunities for which the annual conference is renowned. A combination of formal papers, expert briefings, debates and masterclasses offer a broad range of opportunities for contributors to get involved – and promise to make Research 2006: Connections the essential event of next year.

Conference ideas should be emailed as a summary in MS Word format, to conference@mrs.org.uk For more information visit www.mrs.org.uk/res06. The closing date for contributions is Friday 9 September 2005.
