Search is on as industry seeks out best in-house research team
MRS announces call for entries for flagship awards

Date: 3 June 2010

Client-side researchers will be in the spotlight at this year’s Research Awards as a brand new category is unveiled this week. The award for Best In-house Research Team will take centre stage alongside Best Agency at the annual awards showcase. It will be given to the top research or insight team that demonstrates how its work has transformed the organisation, its approach, products or performance.

Until now, award category stalwarts like Insight Management and Public Policy/Social Research, and more recent additions for Consumer Insights and Financial Services Research, have sought to recognise client and agency teams that demonstrate the value of partnership in delivering top quality research projects.

This new award is, however, the first to single-out client-side research teams specifically in a move that highlights their growing contribution to championing the case for innovative, business-focused market and social research.

MRS opens its call for entries for the annual Research Awards on Thursday 3 June. Hopeful entrants have until Tuesday 27 July to submit their entries for 13 award categories, which will be judged by panels of leading business figures and research experts from both the agency and client-side.

The Research Awards 2010 will also see the introduction of the Best Innovation category, awarded to the individual, company, product or process which can genuinely be hailed as ground-breaking for the sector.

Following last year’s successful event, MRS will once again run a half-day workshop to help potential award entrants get to grips with their submissions. The free session on 21 June is open to anyone looking for advice and practical help on how to ensure their entry ticks all the right boxes, with information on how to address specific criteria and tips on the things that make a winning submission stand out.

Sally Ford-Hutchinson, Chair of the MRS Awards Panel, explains: “The research sector has gone through a period of remarkable change. Innovation, good business strategy and effective client-agency relationships have seen us through a particularly tough climate, and it is fitting that we come together to applaud those who are driving this success.”

“The Research Awards are about recognising the suppliers and their clients who are at the forefront of developments, quick to respond to changing market demands and helping organisations achieve results which underpin their commercial strategy.”

Now in its seventh year, the Research Awards promote outstanding achievement, innovation, excellence and effectiveness in market, social and opinion research. The ceremony on 13 December 2010 will be hosted by Channel 5 News reporter Kate Gerbeau, at the Lancaster, London.
