Membership grades

MRS has designed its membership structure to ensure that there is a broad range of opportunities for individuals to gain membership and to progress through the grades during their career. The grades of membership are compatible with other professional bodies, making your status easily recognisable to others in the business community.

The entitlements for each grade are carefully packaged to support you in your career. Broadly the entry criteria for each grade are:

Fellow

Full Member who has made a significant contribution for at least ten years to market research and/or MRS. Nominations must be submitted by 31 March each year. Further information on how to make a nomination.

Full Member

Three years' relevant research experience and completion of an MRS-recognised development scheme e.g. MRS Diploma or Accredited Masters Degree, Professional Development Scheme (formerly the Graduate Development Scheme), Fast Track Scheme or the Intensive Professional Development Scheme (now phased out).

Associate Member

Holds the MRS Advanced Certificate in Market & Social Research Practice, or an equivalent academic or professional qualification incorporating research skills, or a first degree plus one year's relevant research experience.

Affiliate Member

No formal entry criteria.

Field Member

The grade of Field Member has been phased out. Anyone working as a market research interviewer may apply to become an Affiliate or Associate Member at a special Field rate (call 020 7566 1820 for details).
