Codeline is a free and confidential query service on the MRS Code of Conduct and related legislation.

 

Professional Standards Forum

The MRS Professional Standards Forum was set up to facilitate the exchange of information between MRS and research organisations on standards and compliance issues.

 

Freephone

Respondents can check the validity of a research supplier by calling the MRS Freephone service, only research organisations with MRS members can be listed in the MRS Freephone service.

 

Interviewer Identity Cards Scheme (IID)

The Interviewer Identity (IID) Card provides respondents with the means to verify the legitimacy of an interviewer conducting market research.

Occupation Groupings: A Job Dictionary

Occupation Groupings: A Job Dictionary helps you understand how to grade individual respondents. Small enough to carry around yet full enough to cover the vast majority of current job titles, the Occupation Groupings is the fieldwork tool that interviewers can't be without.

Presentation series

MRS has produced a series of training materials to help your understanding of a variety of topics:

  • Data Protection Act 1998 and how this affects market research
  • Electronic communications and privacy legislation
  • Employment law and regulations

Each of the powerpoint presentations contain comprehensive slides and speaker notes and a presentation pack, including handouts.

Professional Standards leaflets

MRS produces a number of leaflets which provide succinct information on a variety of topics:

These can be used as a tool for new recruits to help them understand more about the professional standards for market and social research. If you require multiple copies of the leaflets a small fee will be charged to cover costs, contact John Bizzell for details:

 

 


Thank You leaflet

A Thank you leaflet should comprise of the following elements:

  • The name of the organisation responsible for the project
  • Contact details of the responsible organisation (including for complaints)
  • The identity of the interviewer
  • An explanation of the purpose of the interview
  • Rights of the respondent
  • Details of the freephone service (if appropriate)

MRS Company Partners must use a standard text on Thank you leaflets used in conjunction with MRS IID cards. This text relates to the description of MRS, the Freephone service and the rights of respondents. MRS Company Partners are free to supplement the standard text with other information about their organisation and/or project as appropriate.
