The Fair Data initiative picked up the Innovation Award at the Association Excellence Awards 2015, which was held on Friday 27 February.
Jane Frost, CEO of MRS said: "MRS promotes ethical standards to the research sector and beyond, and to have won an award for innovation partly reflects the growing importance of ethics to business.
"Fair Data is an innovation that responds to the growing importance of the proper management of personal data. The implications of this for business will be explored in a forthcoming report on privacy, issued by the MRS Delphi Group."
Debrah Harding, Managing Director of MRS said: "Fair Data has been a team effort combining the expertise of the MRS executive staff, with that of members of MRS Market Research Standards Board.
"For MRS, it is important that the Society adapts to the needs of 21st century business. Fair Data is becoming an integral part of the 'data conversation' and social contract between consumers and citizens, and business and society; and its importance will only increase as the digital age develops.
"For Fair Data to be recognised with an Innovation Award, is recognition of the importance of the trust mark, and its role in helping consumers and citizens identify those organisations that can be trusted with their data."
