Director of Insight

This role is responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership to the insight function. The role extends beyond the operational aspects of the function and focuses on setting the long-term strategic direction, driving innovation, and influencing high-level decision-making within an organization. Insight Directors often engage directly with executive leadership and the board of directors. They may also have oversight of multiple teams or departments across insights and data. read more

This role is responsible for the preparation and the day to day logistics of fieldwork. The role may include recruitment, hosting and product preparation. read more

Head of Data

This role is a senior leadership role which oversees the data function and is responsible for the overall data strategy. The role drives data-driven decision-making, and ensures data governance, security, and compliance. read more

Head of Insight

This role oversees the insight function within an organisation. This role is responsible for leading the insight team(s), shaping the overall insight strategy, and ensuring the effective use of insights to support decision making. The focus is often on managing the day-to-day operations of the insight function, including research projects, team management, and stakeholder engagement. read more

Insight Director/Head

This role is responsible for collecting, analysing and interpreting data to provide valuable insights to clients. Leading projects from start to finish, ensuring project success: projects are larger/high profile. Usually responsible for meeting commercial targets and making contributions to new business development. read more

Insight Executive

This role is responsible for analysing data and providing actionable insights to support decision-making within an organisation. The role supports the wider insight team to deliver quant or qual research projects and analyse results to identify trends and opportunities. read more

Insight Freelancer

This role can involve working with brands or for agencies. Freelancers tend to follow the role of an insight director/ associate in an agency or an insight manager within a brand. They can be longer term contract roles to fill a gap in the organisation, or a resource on one single project, or part of a project. read more

Insight Manager

This role is responsible for managing a research and insights team within an organisation. This role also involves managing external agencies, coordinating projects, and providing strategic evidence led recommendations to the wider business. read more

Lead Data Scientist

This role is responsible for selecting correct analytic techniques and testing design and overall accountability for data quality. The role often engages with clients, and works on projects where statistical requirements are more advanced. read more

This role is responsible for collecting, analysing and interpreting data to provide valuable insights to clients. At entry level, the role contributes to all stages of the research lifecycle with support from more senior colleagues. read more

Research Manager

This role is responsible for collecting, analysing and interpreting data to provide valuable insights to clients. This will include managing and leading smaller scale projects from start to finish ensuring project success. read more

Senior Data Analyst

This role is responsible for leading and executing complex data analysis projects. This role involves working with large datasets, applying advanced statistical techniques, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making. read more

Senior Insight Executive

This role is responsible for leading and managing research projects, analyzing complex data sets, and providing insights to drive business growth and decision-making. read more

Senior Research Executive

This role is responsible for collecting, analysing and interpreting data to provide valuable insights to clients. Contributing to research proposals from commission to completion and leading on smaller scale projects. read more

Trainee Insight Exec

This role is an entry level role ideal for those new to the sector. The role comprises both hands on experience and often training, working with more experienced team members to learn a variety of foundational research skills. read more

UX Researcher

This role is primarily focussed on customer journey and experience projects within a business, that can be either internal or external. Involves working closely with IT and operational teams within a business to optimise the experience. Projects can either stem from new launches and services within a business that need optimising, to spotting opportunities to improve existing processes via consumer feedback or commercial metrics. read more

When choosing a role or a business, think about these core issues, what's important to you, and make sure you ask the right questions to get the full picture.

Location and core hours

  • What are the expections of office and home working?
  • What is their definiton of flexibilty?

Travel for role

  • Is the role global, regional?
  • How often will you be required to travel and for what duration?

Structure and line management

  • Who will I report directly into?
  • Who are the stakeholders who have influence over my role? Who uses the results of the research?
  • How are responsbilities split between clientside/agency
  • What support is in place to help people progress through the business?
  • How is progress assessed?
  • What is the overall company structure, and how would my team/my role sit within this?

Business

  • How is business going?
  • How has the business changed in the last few years?
  • What are the short, mid and long term business plans?
  • Where is the business currently focusing?
  • Who do you percieve to be your competitors? Why?

Type of work / industry

  • Does the agency or organisation specialise in a particular type of research or industry - does this interest you?

Roles beyond the reseach

  • Would you prefer a role that works with multiple methodologies/ sectors? Or do you want to specialise?
  • Would you like to work in an insight agency or team but not on the insight itself? - e.g. Human resources, Marketing, Business Development, finance - many people pivot to other roles within the business where the skills are transferable or retaining is available. Do they have any examples of this in their organisation?
