Call for contributions – present your latest research at MRS’s 2021 Financial Services Research conference

Consumers, businesses, markets and the economy are still reeling from the economic shock and financial upheaval of Covid. This year’s event examines the new insight needs the pandemic has generated for financial services providers and how the crisis has affected customers’ attitudes and behaviours. What do financial providers need to identify, measure and act on to cultivate recovery and support consumers and businesses going forward?

We are looking for research on the following areas:

The new customer experience

  • Novel customer journeys, online and on the high street
  • Customer attitudes towards the digitalisation of all services
  • Exponential growth in mobile and online payments
  • Changing engagement and communication approaches with customers
  • Brand alignment with customers’ new priorities

The economy and the impact on attitudes and behaviours of consumers and businesses

  • Impact of the pandemic on different customer segments and how to support them
  • New spending, saving and employment behaviours
  • A lens on security, hardship and vulnerability
  • Customer confidence in navigating financial services, long-term financial planning
  • Supporting businesses through Brexit & Covid challenges

Financial services markets & business strategy

  • Tackling the rise of digital fraud and online financial crime
  • Impact of a more digitally savvy audience on business strategy
  • Opportunities for challenger vs traditional brands in a dynamic market
  • Building consumer trust and adoption of blockchain and cryptocurrencies
  • Investment and pension markets
  • New financial services operation models including virtual call centres and WFH

Alternate research methods for new challenges

  • AI for harvesting and analysing consumer opinions
  • Agile research
  • Digital ethnography

  • CASE STUDY (30 minutes) –Agency / client joint presentation of a recent research project
  • NO SLIDES PANEL SESSIONS (30 minutes) - Convene and lead a panel discussion
  • IN CONVERSATION WITH… (30 minutes) - Lead a one-to-one interview style session which brings together an agency and client

A quick note on our selection criteria:

With just 10 sessions available we give priority to client-side presenters / co-presenters, new hot-off-the-press research and projects using pioneering research techniques.
