A 1-day behavioural design sprint – learn how to apply the latest behavioural science and design thinking to change customer/employee behaviour at pace.

This course is now delivered online as a series of live sessions which fully meet the learning objectives of face-to-face training.

Course overview/description

Research and insight professionals are increasingly expected to not only apply behavioural science to more accurately understand human behaviour, but also to quickly come up with recommendations and solutions to actually influence behaviour. Being a behavioural designer is becoming part of the job spec and an increasingly in-demand skill whether you’re in research, communications, UX/CX, brand, product or service design. How can you design proven solutions at pace to change behaviour?

This 1-day, remote design sprint will teach you how to practically apply a behavioural design approach – combing the latest behavioural science and design thinking – to change customer/employee behaviour at pace. Working on a project or problem of your own choosing and using the latest virtual whiteboards, you will complete a behavioural design sprint to learn by doing (rather than theory) – equipping you with the key steps, methods, tools and confidence to design proven and provable solutions for behaviour change.

Learning outcomes/objectives

  1. Learn how to practically apply a behavioural design approach – combining behavioural science and design thinking – on your very own project or problem
  2. Design more effective behaviour change interventions optimised for the specific context, not ‘one-size-fits-all’ solutions
  3. Complete a remote design sprint using the latest virtual whiteboards and design thinking templates
  4. Learn the key steps, methods and tools to be confident to apply behavioural design back at your workplace and on future projects
  5. Learn how to identify previously unseen behavioural barriers and opportunities
  6. Improve your effectiveness in understanding and changing behaviour at pace
  7. Design more effective communications, marketing, UX/CX, brands, products and services to change customer/employee behaviour

Who will benefit?

  • Anyone involved or interested in understanding and changing behaviour (be it customer, consumer or employee) from across research and insight, communications, marketing, brand, UX/CX, product and service design
  • Some existing knowledge and understanding of key behavioural science concepts (e.g. System 1 and 2, heuristics, nudge theory, etc.) would help as this course is more about the practical application of behavioural science as part of a design sprint rather than the theory

Learning method

  • 1-day design sprint – learn by doing (not theory) – working on a project or problem of your own choosing

Course delivery mode

  • Remotely via Zoom and using Mural virtual whiteboards
