Call for Election

You’ll be aware from this year’s MRS Annual Review and Standards Report that the research, insight and data sector is changing dramatically to reflect the new world and new digital economy.  You will have also noticed that MRS, as your representative body, is also constantly evolving to do its job more effectively.

MRS Main Board

The MRS Main Board is currently undertaking an MRS governance review and one issue under consideration is the reduction in the size of the MRS Main Board.  To efficiently manage this planned transition the Main Board has decided not to recruit or re-elect Main Board members in the forthcoming period.  Therefore, with the exception of the position of Chair-Designate (discussed below), there will be no MRS Main Board positions subject to election during the next election period.

Chair-Designate

We are however looking for a Chair-Designate for MRS. We would like to ask those of you who are recognised at the Certified Members or Fellows grades to consider:

• whether this is something you would be interested in doing, to make a contribution to the activities of MRS; or
• if you may know other members of the Society who you think would be suitable for this role.

The MRS Chair-Designate (who becomes Chair after one year as Chair-Designate) leads the Main Board which drives this change.  The role is open to those MRS Members who are recognised at the Certified Members or Fellows grades and who have held these grades for at least two years (including any period as a “Full Member” prior to the re-designation of that category). We need people who really want to see the research, insight and data sector develop and succeed.
