Evaluate your personal impact and increase business influence.

Overview & objective

Research is a ‘people’ business. The astute researcher therefore recognises the importance of the ‘emotional’ elements of business (communication, relationships, influence and impact), and knows how to leverage these for both personal and organisational success. This workshop will help participants to evaluate the personal impact they have upon those they interact with day-to-day, enabling them to increase this influence for business benefit. Specifically, they will identify effective & confident strategies for building and managing a range of business relationships.

Subjects covered will include:

  • Influencing styles & strategies
  • Recognising, and leveraging, one’s personal power-base
  • Focusing one’s energies & efforts where it matters
  • The importance of emotional intelligence to successful influencing – ‘knowing me, knowing you’
  • The ‘paradox of control’
  • Effective questioning & active listening
  • Developing rapport through non-verbal communication
  • Assertiveness & managing conflict
Learning outcomes

On completion, participants will:

  • Understand the tools of ‘world class’ influencers
  • Have increased their emotional intelligence, by identifying their ‘default’ influencing style, their power-base and the impact they have upon others
  • Recognise the wider range of skills & strategies available to them
  • Have developed their core influencing skills, including questioning, listening, asserting & problem-solving
  • Have greater confidence in handling conflict & ‘challenging’ situations or people
  • Leave with tangible action plans that, once implemented back at the workplace, will make a real difference to their personal impact and the success of their business relationships
Who will benefit?

Anyone wanting to develop successful business relationships through effective influencing, or to have greater impact, confidence and assertiveness in those working relationships.
