Research Live Award

Best Agency

This Award is split into two categories. The winners will both be agencies that really stand out from the competition as market leaders in their field. One award will be given to an agency with a turnover greater than £20million, and one will be given to an agency with a turnover of less than £20million to July 2017.

The Award is open to any MR agency that can genuinely claim to have had an exceptional year and that operates within a recognised self-regulatory research framework (MRS Company Partner, employs members of MRS or other equivalent associations outside the UK).

In both cases, judges will look for:

  • strong financial performance – this is crucial to success in this category. Please include metrics in your submission and provide details of turnover and profit for the twelve months to July 2017. If you do not provide this information, your entry will not go forward to the shortlisting stage. If your research business is owned by a larger group, please provide financial information on the research business only and NOT the Group as a whole.
  • research innovation – what has your business done in the last 12 months that has made the industry stop and think? Have you challenged established conventions? Have you developed a new approach, method or technique that has wowed clients and delivered tangible improvements to both their business and your revenue?
  • proven business-driven results – the judges will need to see that 2016/17 has been a great year for your business not just in terms of financials but in growth, development and an enhanced reputation. You should use clear metrics in your submission to demonstrate:
    • clear evidence that the agency has moved forward over the last 12 months
    • client list growth – give details here. Adding a number of clients is positive of course, but it’s not just about numbers. What is the value of the new clients and how have they contributed to your overall growth?
    • client retention – include in your submission not just how many clients have been retained but also how the revenue that they generate has also been retained (or grown).
  • added value services for clients – please give examples of where you have provided strategic advice and not just reported back findings, show how you are an integrated part of the client team, or give evidence of how you are helping the client team to improve their skills and enhance their reputation within the organisation.
  • strong sense of the agency's brand values – the judges want to understand the personality of the agency. What sets you apart and draws clients and industry talent to you?
  • staff retention/development – please provide more than just numbers and percentages. How does retention of junior staff compare to that of the senior team? Head office compared to regional/international offices? Give examples of what you have provided to staff to further their development.
  • flying the flag for the research sector – give examples of instances when you have presented research to a wider audience than just your clients, for example at conferences, industry events etc.
