MRS Award

Innovation in Methodology

This Award will be given for a paper describing a new methodology which adds to the body of market research knowledge and significantly contributes to the way research is both thought about and carried out.

Key criteria

• Demonstration of a new, or the stretching of an existing, technique

• Alternatively, the application of an established technique from another discipline to the research environment

• Proof of effective application in the field

• Ability to replicate the methodology

Anyone reading the paper must be able to replicate the methodology and papers must therefore be available in the public domain. Only published papers – or those which will have been published by 1 October 2017 – will be considered.

The paper does not need to have been published in a journal, any paper that can be accessed publicly is eligible, however it will be competing with papers that have been peer-reviewed so judges will expect similar quality. They will be looking for full papers – not synopses – and these should clearly demonstrate both the innovative nature of the work and the demonstrable outcomes.

Papers presented at the Impact 2017 or published in the International Journal of Market Research are automatically considered for the Award. Authors of these papers do not need to make a separate submission.
