GKB: Geodemographics Knowledge Base

The Geodemographics Knowledge Base (GKB) is a major database of geodemographic sources, developed by the MRS Census and Geodemographics Group.

It provides a gateway into a comprehensive directory of several hundred selected websites covering the UK, Europe and many other parts of the world. Each site is checked and curated by members of the CGG and new contributions are encouraged from all users.

The GKB includes sections specifically devoted to areas of interest to the CGG. These include the Census, Europe (with links to all the national statistics agencies), Open Data and Real Time Geodemographics (the tracking of people and things in the move). New sections are added from time to time to reflect important developments in geodemographics.

In addition to providing a database of curated links, the GKB also hosts the monthly Keynote. This takes the form of a blog where expert contributors describe the latest developments in their specialist field. Recent keynotes include The History of the CGG, Geodemographics Goes Mobile, The ONS Data Science Campus, and Creating a European Data Innovation Ecosystem.

The GKB was created in 2000, and is an invaluable resource for market researchers and others who rely on population and demographic information.
