The Market Research Quality Standards Advisory Board (MRQSAB) is an all-industry body which brings together a number of trade and professional bodies, under the umbrella of MRS. The Advisory Board replaces the Market Research Quality Standards Association – MRQSA – which closed as a separate association at the end of March 2012. The changeover from MRQSA to MRQSAB has not led to any changes in the Board membership. MRQSAB continues to be a cross-sectoral body that reflects the views of the entire industry.
MRQSAB's role is to develop and maintain minimum standards for market, social and opinion research, data collection and data processing. The current standards are BS ISO 20252:2012 Market, Opinion and Social Research – Vocabulary and Service Requirements and ISO 26362:2009 Access Panels in Market, Opinion and Social Research – Vocabulary and Service Requirements. Of these, BS ISO 20252 is the principal standard for market, opinion and social research. All requirements within ISO 26362 are also within BS ISO 20252.
In June 2012, a revised BS ISO 20252 standard was issued, replacing the earlier 2006 version. MRQSAB has prepared a short document highlighting the changes between the 2006 and 2012 versions. This document will be useful to organisations which have already implemented BS ISO 20252 and need to consider the changes needed to ensure continuing compliance with BS ISO 20252.
MRQSAB has also prepared a document to aid companies implementing the international standard BS ISO 20252 for the first time. It is recommended that this is read in connection with the published standard BS ISO 20252, which can be obtained fromBSI.
